Socks,Socks,Socks Want to knit socks? Of course you do. It is great fun! This basic class will cover ribbings, turning the heel, shaping the heel and how to finish and graft the toe. Basic knitting skills are required. You will knit a basic sock to fit the size foot you choose. This is a 3-session class taught Lana. Class fee is $35 plus materials.

Gyda Knitalong:
Celebrate the tradition of Knitting Together

This July and August we will Knitalong on Thursday evenings beginning July 8 from 6pm - 8pm. This design comes from Elsebeth Lavold's viking tradition. The main pattern is an easy checkboard of stockinette and reverse stockinette with a double overhand knot pattern on the sleeve and sweater edges. The pattern is shown in a cropped length but can easily be made longer. Skill Level: Easy Plus to Average. Join us as often as you wish.
1. You must purchase project yarn at River Wools.
2. Pre-registration is required but there is NO CLASS FEE.
3. There will be a staff person present to help out but there will be no formal instruction.
4. Share your finished project via photo or model it in person!

Grape Jelly Top: This easy, quick top from Manos is just right for the summer knitting season. It is a perfect first garment project but has enough interest any knitter. It will look great in one of our many cotton summer yarns. This class is taught by Martha. Class fee is $35 plus materials.(20% off pattern book for class registrants.)

Crochet Baby Booties: These adorable maryjane-styled booties are the perfect gift for the mother-to-be, and are a great way to use small amounts of sock yarn. We are offering both a crochet and knit version(the Knit version will be offered on Augs. 14 and 21)-- make either or both. Basic skills required. This class is taught by Lana. Class fee is $25 plus materials.

Learn to Knit: Knitting produces beautiful fabric which allows you to create fun scarves, beautiful sweaters, afghans, mittens, baby items, socks, home decorations and more. You will learn how to knit, purl, cast on, bind-off, how to read knitting instructions, and how to measure gauge. We will talk about fiber choice. You will pick the color of yarn you want for your first project and start the project in class. This class is suitable for those with no previous needlework experience. This 3 session class taught by Martha. Cost is $35 plus materials.

Balloon Animals: These darling creations from CID Hanscom Designs are so much fun. Knit of sock yarn and stuffed in the manner of sausage and then tied like balloon animals are darling. You'll want one yourself and it will make a perfect baby gift. This 2 session class is taught by Dara. Class fee is $25 plus materials. (20% off pattern packet for class registrants)

Boteh Scarf: This drapey all-weather accessory combines simple crochet stitches with clever shaping. For best results, swatch for gauge before the first class. Ability to work half-double crochet required. This 1 session class is taught by Lana. Class fee $15 plus materials.

Malin SmokeRing: Knitted in the round in the Swedish owlet moth pattern, this lovely ring is shaped by changing to smaller needles as you go. Flattering and functional, wear this as a lovely cowl or a head-covering. It is light as a feather in Elsebeth Lavold's Silky Wool. This 2 session class is taught by Dara. Class fee is $25 plus materials. (Pattern book is 20% off for class registrants)

Beginning Ridgid Heddle 1: Learn the basics of weaving with a Rigid Heddle Loom in this workshop designed for beginners. Learn to measure warp threads, dress the loom and weave a beautiful scarf in a day long workshop. Price for class includes instruction, hand outs and the use of the looms and tools. Yarns will be extra. (If you have your own Rigid Heddle Loom that you can bring to the workshop, PLEASE let us know when you sign up!) John Salamone is the instructor and will bring sample scarves to help you make your own yarn choices. This workshop is very fun and full of creative energy as everyone has the opportunity to create a scarf that reflects their own personality, and students can watch other types of scarves come to life besides their own! Workshop fee is $50 plus materials.

Rigid Heddle 2: This 2 hour class is a follow-up to the Rigid Heddle 1 workshop. You will have an opportunity follow-up on what you learned in the original workshop and to learn techniques for improving your weaving now that you have had time to practice. For those who need a refresher on the Rigid Heddle, this class is for you. Class fee is $25. If you are signing up for both Rigid Heddle 1 and 2 at the same time, save $15 for a joint fee of $60.

Skew Sock: Learn the twists and turns of this very unusual bias sock construction, published in the Winter 2010 issue of Knitty and the 11th most popular sock pattern of all time according to Ravelry, straight from the designer.
